If you find yourself biking along the 13-mile B&A trail this summer, remember to pack a light lunch. As you ride along, you’ll discover a few pocket parks where you can stop for a quick bite to eat. For instance, a great option is Cypress Creek Park. It has plenty of open space to relax, and it’s also right next to the Park Plaza Shopping Center in Severna Park. There, you can find lots of restaurants to fuel up, including Garry’s Grill! Another rest stop along the trail is Jonas Green Park, which has park benches, picnic tables and great views of the Severn River. Of course, you don’t have to go biking in order to picnic at either of these parks.

Broadneck Park

You can’t go wrong with a picnic at Broadneck Park in Annapolis. Like Lake Waterford, there are pavilion rentals and picnic areas to eat and enjoy the views. Uniquely, the playground features a fun shipwreck theme to inspire kids’ imagination. And, there are also sports fields, playgrounds, and paved walking trails to explore before or after lunch. Have a furry friend you want to bring along? Broadneck Park features a dog-friendly area to let your pet run around and play, too.

Located in Pasadena, Lake Waterford Park is a beautiful, serene area to enjoy an afternoon lunch. It’s so quiet and peaceful sitting along the water’s edge. Not to mention, the park has dedicated picnic areas for you to set up shop. And, there are also restrooms available and activities for adults and kids, such as a playground and basketball, pickleball, and tennis courts. There’s even a concession stand open seasonally. If you have a large group eating lunch, consider renting out one of the park’s three pavilions.

Sandy Point State Park

Finally, for a great picnic in Maryland, we recommend eating along the sandy shores of the Chesapeake Bay. Beautiful Sandy Point State Park in Annapolis offers a huge park with breathtaking scenic views of the water and Chesapeake Bay Bridge. Take advantage of one of the picnic areas or shelter rentals to sit back and relax with a meal. Or, grab an umbrella and a towel and make your way down to the sand and shore. While you eat, you can watch the boats going by as well as the plentiful wildlife strolling down the beaches.
