Q&A with Manager, Korey Earles

At Garry’s, we pride ourselves on quality food and great customer service. This wouldn’t be possible without the amazing employees we have. One, in particular, has been with us for nearly 6 years, Korey Earles. Eddie actually interviewed him, and Garry’s son hired him on as a server. From there, he has become part of the very fabric that makes Garry’s your favorite local restaurant. Last year, he was promoted to Shift Manager and this year he took on a full-time management position. This week, we sat down with him to learn more about his life inside and outside of Garry’s.

Q: What do you like most about your job at Garry’s?

A: We are a tight-knit group. I love the camaraderie. Many times, we hang out together outside of work. I also appreciate the opportunity to be a leader.

Q: Speaking of being a leader, have you had any educational moments during your career here?

A: When I had my first shift as a manager it was on a holiday. While we closed early that day, it was super busy. It was a bit stressful being my first time as a manager but I learned a lot. I think when you have to face adversity and succeed, it makes some of the smaller issues easier to deal with.

Q: How about just plain fun moments?

A: The one thing that really sticks out is our annual holiday party. I bring my 8-year-old daughter. She looks forward to it so much, she asks me every few months when the next one will be.

Q: Besides being a father, what else might people not know about you?

A: I played college lacrosse in North Carolina. I played at Northeast High School in Pasadena and got a scholarship. We also have a baby on the way due in June. I am a Caps season ticket holder. I also officiate football and lacrosse for varsity high school.

Q: Working in the restaurant business, what do you love to eat?

A: Old bay on everything. Jalapeños too. If it is at Garry’s, I love the Vic’s Chop Salad and a burrito special we have. My favorite is the Ahi Tuna Wrap though.
