5 Reasons We Are Ready for Summer

We don’t know about you, but we’ve got summertime on the brain. Like those warm, blissful car rides with the windows down and that familiar smell of freshly cut grass on a Saturday morning. Summer gives us that extra pep in our step and brightens all of our days (literally). Of course, naturally it’s only a matter of time until we start complaining about how hot and humid it is outside. But, until then we prefer to dream about the marvelous days of summer that lie ahead. Here are a few reasons we are ready for summer, and ‘that summer feeling’, to return.

1. All of the Foodready for summer 1

Everything tastes better in the summer. Specifically, fresh vegetables and fruit, like strawberries, tomatoes, peaches, and watermelon as they are sweeter in season. And, we can’t forget about juicy barbecue on the grill, double scoop ice cream cones, corn on the cob, and crabs! Fresh food is at its peak in the summertime, and we can’t wait to dig in around the picnic table.

2. Drinks and More Drinks

We prefer our summer cocktails served poolside, garnished with a tiny umbrella. Even better if there’s a pineapple wedge on the rim. Just one sip of a sweet, summer drink and we are instantly transcended to a relaxing tropical beach with sand in between our toes. And, there’s probably a good chance that we’re already there honestly. Mai Tai’s and Sangria all around.

3. Sunshine and Longer Days

Summer is the perfect time to cure our vitamin C and D deficiency. We like to think the longer days are a little reward for having to endure the cold winter and endless hours spent indoors. So, now that we have the chance, we’re taking advantage of every opportunity to be outside. We’re talking beach vacations, dinners on the backyard patio, boat rides in the bay, and Happy Hours at our favorite restaurants.

4. Baseball Games

Take us out to the ball game, please! Baseball games are an American summer tradition. You can’t help but beam with happiness and excitement, with a ratty glove in hand, in anticipation of a base hit. And, even if you’re not a sports fan, a night at the ballpark is nothing short of a night well spent. All you need is a footlong hotdog, a beer, and a baseball cap and life is oh so good. Pro Tip: If you’re lucky, you may find bacon on a stick and crab dip being served at Camden Yards.

5. Live Outdoor Music

There’s just something special about live outdoor music. Outdoor concerts are easygoing and less cramped than indoor shows, and you’re free to be as loud and carefree as you want. Needless to say, music and summertime go together like peanut butter and jelly. They make us happy, and practically everyone is a fan.

This summer, take some time to unwind and enjoy the weather with great food and great people. That being said, bring the whole family into Garry’s Grill for a good meal. After all, its a glorious time of year! Are you ready for summer?
