Annapolis Wedding | Gretchen + Sean
On Saturday, April 27th, 2019, Gretchen and Sean, surrounded by 130 of their closest family and friends, married in a ceremony at St. Mary’s in Annapolis, Maryland. After the couple exchanged vows, the guests gathered in downtown Annapolis at the William Paca House for an unforgettable wedding reception. Garry’s is always honored to be apart of long-term and loyal customer’s weddings. We even had our very own General Manager, Nick Bordenski, attend the wedding with his wife, Tiffany.

Annapolis Wedding Reception Venue
So, a little history, if you aren’t familiar with the William Paca House. It was originally built by its namesake in the late 1700s. Interestingly, Paca was Maryland’s third Governor and also signed the Declaration of Independence. The house was a single-family home for much of the 19th century. In the early 1900s, it was converted to a hotel and stay that way until Historic Annapolis and State of Maryland bought the Paca mansion in 1965. The home was restored and is now recognized as a National Historic Landmark. The property also features a beautiful, 2-acre walled garden. The property can now be toured or rented for events.
Gretchen and Sean chose the picturesque red-brick Georgian mansion to serve as an elegant and historic backdrop for their momentous occasion. It was a perfect spring day full of sunshine. The tents were set up outside for an afternoon wedding reception. The couple ultimately decided on a cocktail-style wedding reception with stations. Specifically, Gretchen chose Garry’s catering for the big day because it was a family favorite restaurant while growing up in Severna Park, Maryland. Additionally, she wanted a place that had great food and was local.

Weddings can be stressful. For this reason, Garry’s strive to take as much as that stress off the bride and groom as possible. Prior to the celebration, Garry’s catering team created a personalized timeline for the arrival, reception, cocktail hour, dinner, last call, and clean up. Furthermore, the menu featured five stations of assorted food, including the following:
- Carving Station – Herb-crusted Roast Beef, Garlic Mashed Potatoes, Grilled Asparagus, Caesar Salad
- Raw Bar – Crisfield MD Oysters, Steamed Shrimp with Cocktail Sauce
- Crab Cake Station – Broiled Maryland Crab Cakes, Garry’s salad, Homemade Mac & Cheese
- Charcuterie, Cheese & Fruit Station – Salami, Prosciutto, Smoked Turkey and Honey Ham; Swiss, Pepper Jack, and Cheddar; Honeydew, Cantaloupe, Pineapple, Strawberries, and Grapes; Assorted Crackers
- Passed Appetizers – Mini Beef Wellingtons, Bacon-Wrapped Scallops, Raspberry and Brie Bites
In addition, we also had five employees on staff to pass appetizers, replenish food, and cut and serve the cake. At Garry’s, we offer full-service catering, so we provide all the trays and displays for the food area. Our staff sets up, maintains, and breakdown all the food and rentals, to make it easier for our clients.
We were honored to cater Sean and Gretchen’s reception and help make the day special. In essence, our staff made it a priority to ensure that the event was a seamless process from start to finish. And, with the help of William Paca representative, Jodie Dalton, we’re proud that Garry’s was able to exceed expectations. Throughout the day, guests raved about the cuisine.
